Flash your Stash…

In Uncategorized on 24 September 2007 at 20:50

In true SnB style, one of the topics of discussion at the City Centre SnB was the amount yarn and knitting paraphernalia a knitter possesses. Generally, a knitter may have a significant other, family, and friends who are non-knitters and/or may not comprehend the concept of yarn enhancement and yarn stash.

For example, I have yet to articulate and establish, to the Spouse and other non-knitters, that my obsession with buying yarn, storing them in Ziploc plastic bags and thumbing through the dozens of knitting magazines and pattern books is normal behaviour amongst witty knitters.

So,Isobel came up with a brillant idea of a post…”Flash your Stash”.

So, witty knitters, flash your stash on your blog (remember to link to your blog on comments) or email a photo of your stash to be posted on this blog. Show us your yarn stash and that yarn enhancement is normal behaviour.

Dublin Knit Collective is sponsoring another random draw one name from those who flash their stash by Sunday 23 September and the winner will receive a yarn cake of Rowan Yarn.

The call out for Flashing your Stash was a lot of fun. It was a delight to see all the lovely yarn and fibre. I must say that some of you are truly organised, great photograpers and definitely have a great deal of buying power when it comes to fibre.

I can now announce the winner* of the Flash your Stash contest….

Congratulations to Ger

I am just getting around to posting this…

Laura arrived at the City Centre SnB last Saturday with several balls of Rowan Kidsilk Mohair. She was not able to pass up this wonderful deal of 6 euro a ball… “at this price, it is almost free.”

Like true knitting fanatics, several of the witty knitters left the cafe promptly at 2pm and made their way to the Dublin Woollen Mills to purchase the sale item. They also had some Rowan Biggy yarn for sale.

As of 2pm today, the store had a couple of balls left in the ecru, brown, fushia and black. The staff at the store stated that they will no longer sell this yarn since their customers thought it was “too expensive.”

the delights of knitting for pleasure

In SnB, food and drink on 16 September 2007 at 11:42

The Curved Street Café is drawing very good reviews amongst the Dublin knitters. I have heard comments such as “great lighting”, “central location”, “nice staff” and importantly, “very good food & drink”. The menu is very impressive with a varied selection of gourmet sandwiches, soups and salads. Yesterday’s menu included two types of pizza- blue cheese & carmelized onions and tomato & basil. Both came with a lovely spring salad and cashew nut vingarette dressing.
